Your local Lib Dem team can reveal further details of plans being put forward for housing on the Hallam Uni site between Hemsworth Rd, Derbyshire Lane, Warminster Road and Mount View Road.

If given the go ahead, the land would be sold by Sheffield Hallam University to Miller Homes. The plans would see:
● 131 homes built in total.
● 90 two-storey houses with garages.
● 40 properties for housing association.
● 24 for affordable social housing.
● 16 for shared ownership.

Local councillor Steve Ayris said

We carried out a survey as soon as we heard about the plans. The response has been massive. Residents in the homes that surround the plot of land, known as ‘The Field’, have expressed deep worry over the plans. The vast majority of people are saying that they are opposed to the scheme.

Your local Councillors met with the developers to pass on the issues raised by residents. But official comments cannot be made until the planning application is submitted which is expected imminently.

Lib Dem Councillor Sue Auckland said

I just don’t feel that this plot of land is suitable for this project. “We, as local Councillors, have always been opposed to building on this section of land. When the planning application is submitted, I certainly will object.
