Lib Dems in Government have delivered a boost in NHS funding to secure more doctors and nurses for our hospitals, better access to cancer drugs and better care for mental health patients.

Cllr Steve Ayris said,

We are lucky to have such good health services in Sheffield, but we all know that the NHS urgently needs this extra money. My Lib Dem colleagues in Government have acted to make this a national priority.

We have campaigned to increase the NHS budget for years, so I’m proud that the Lib Dems will deliver £2bn of new money for the NHS in April – and we’re calling for a minimum of £1bn extra cash every year for the NHS in the next parliament.

We are also committed to ending the injustice of people with mental health conditions waiting far too long for treatment – that’s why the Lib Dems are introducing the first ever waiting time standards for NHS mental health services.
