University of Sheffield have announced new plans to extend the sports ground on Warminster Road.

Last year, University of Sheffield submitted a planning application to extend the sports ground on Warminster Road. The plans were later withdrawn.

It has now been announced that the University are planning a new submission.

Local Liberal Democrat councillor, Steve Ayris said

“Last Autumn, I carried out a survey to get your views on the original plans.

“Local Residents expressed deep concern about the plans. Particularly about extended opening hours and the
use of flood lighting into the night.

“There was also a lot of questions about parking, which is already a problem near the playing fields on Warminster Road.”

The planning application hasn’t been sent to the council yet so details on the new plans are a little bit sketchy and nothing is confirmed.

It is hoped that the University have listened to residents and altered the plans. Your Councillors will keep you up to date as the plans become clearer.
